2016 Falvey Scholars Awards Presentation & Reception Ceremony. 9:00 a.m. in Room 205.

This ceremony is one of the keynote events of EXPO ’16 week, which recognizes outstanding undergraduate research from across Villanova’s campus. At this event, award recipients will give short presentations on the content and findings of the research involved in the writing of the thesis or in the creation of the project report.

Provost, Patrick G. Maggitti, PhD, will open the event. The event will be emceed and awards will be presented by University Librarian Millicent Gaskell.

The following students will be presenting:

9:30 a.m. – Tara Malanga, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on “Does Nitrogen Addition Irreversibly Alter Soil Microbial Community Composition and Function?” Mentor: Adam Langley, PhD

10:00 a.m. – Chloe DeEntremont,College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on “Patriarchally Ever After?: Disney’s Perpetration of Male Dominance through Animals Sidekicks’ Interactions with Princesses and Princes” Mentors: Sherry Bowen, PhD, and Heidi Rose, PhD

10:30 a.m. – Molly Purnell, College of Nursing on “The Intergenerational Cycle of Obesity: Nursing Implications and Interventions” Mentor: Meredith MacKenzie, PhD

11:00 a.m. – Meghan Barker, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on “Bumptious Bodies: Analyzing Pregnant Space in Contemporary Artwork” Mentors: Sherry Bowen, PhD; Maghan Keita, PhD; and Timothy McCall, PhD

11:30 a.m. – Thomas Cox, Villanova School of Business/College of Engineering on “Measuring the Adoption and Deployment Rates of Disruptive Technologies” Mentor: Stephen Andriole, PhD

Presentations will be followed with a closing by University President the Rev. Father Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, ’75 CLAS, in which he will focus attention on the importance of both undergraduate and graduate research on campus.
