Curious Cat Finds Out What Villanova Students are Wearing for Halloween

"Curious Cat Banner"

It’s officially spooky season at Villanova, and we searched to find out what the “It” look will be. “What Halloween costume do you plan to wear?” we asked.

Sure, a few people responded “Nope” to dressing up, but we found a trio of Falvey student patrons who will put “The Shining” on their outfits this upcoming holiday. (Apologies for the terrible movie puns!)

Note: Falvey Library will be hosting two Halloween-themed events. Join us for “Trick and Treats from the Vault” October 31 and community trick or treat on the Riley Ellipse, Oct. 29, 5 p.m. until dusk.

Peek at the Week: August 29

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

In Verse 64 of Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu said, “A journey of  a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Welcome and welcome back, Wildcats! A new year at Villanova brings new beginnings, whether it’s your first year or your last. As you embark on your 2022-2023 journey, remember that all of your fellow Wildcats are taking the step with you. Happy fall semester!

THIS WEEK AT FALVEY

HOLIDAYS THIS WEEK

Celebrate We Love Memoirs Day on Wednesday, August 31, by reading or listening to one of your favorite memoirs. If you need a bit of humor in your day, Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel provides some genuine laughs and things to reflect on (and, bonus, as a graphic novel, it’s a pretty quick read).

September 2 is College Colors Day. So, if you’re stuck picking out an outfit for Friday, throw on some blue and white to show your ‘Nova pride.

Caturday: Welcoming Spring

students sitting in hammock

Midterms have passed and V’s of Canadian geese are pointed northward once more. That can only mean one thing—spring is just around the corner.

Earlier this week we caught up with Christine Onder ’24 and Lalih Harris ’25 as they lounged in a hammock near Falvey and enjoyed the almost-but-not-quite-spring vibes on campus.

Finals Stress Busting Events–Another Way Falvey Helps Students Relax and Achieve

Every fall and spring, students come face to face with finals. The finals countdown. The finals destination. For students, finals are the ultimate test. (Literally, since they often have the ultimate test of the semester.)

Everything is on the line academically. That’s why Falvey Memorial Library staff members give students the chance each semester to chill and chow in a more low stakes line, one that winds around bars filled with nachos, Tater Tots, and desserts. Because four out of five students know that the first step toward a well-fed mind is a well-fed body.

Dessert Bar, spring 2019: Donuts, cupcakes, and cookies–oh my!

Tater Tot Bar, fall 2017: The grade students gave this event was “snacktacular!”

Cereal Bar, Spring 2018: Spoonfuls of relaxation.
