Hey, Wildcats! Notice anything new on the fourth floor of the library? As a response to requests for additional quiet study areas, we created the seating layout made of multipurpose furniture that you see pictured above. Falvey Memorial Library works hard to create and maintain a favorable environment for your study needs. A critical element of this ongoing process is your feedback and suggestions.

So, what do you think? Does it fit your needs? Does it provide more or less comfort while getting your work done? Did you prefer the old tables? How would you improve it…or do you like it like this? Let us know. Leave a comment below or tell a library staff member how you feel the next time you’re here. Thanks in advance, Nova Nation!

Foto Friday: New Microfilm Scanner

“We got a new microfilm scanner this semester, and it has been great! It is very accessible, user-friendly, and the numerous editing features available allow our patrons to customize their scans to meet their research needs. If you want to learn more about the microfilm scanner or need assistance, ask the library staff at the front desk—we’re happy to help!” -Caroline Sipio, access and collections coordinator. The microfilm scanner is located on the first floor of the library, near the service desk.

Be sure to follow Falvey on social media for updates on this semester’s stress relief event. Thank you to everyone who attended the open house, we know it’s cheesy, but we think you’re grate!

Welcome to Falvey: Beaudry Allen Joins Distinctive Collections

Before joining the Falvey staff, Allen was the archivist and digital production coordinator for the Special Research Collections at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Foto Friday: Happy Holidays and Happy Retirement to Ward Barnes

Happy holidays and happy retirement to Ward Barnes! Barnes came to Falvey in 1999, working as a building monitor and then as an access services specialist, a position he held until retirement. Living close to campus, Barnes often provided coverage during severe weather; ensuring the Villanova community could utilize library resources. A former teacher, Barnes enjoyed working the night shift and interacting with Villanova students. From all of us at Falvey, best wishes in retirement, Ward!
