A basketball player’s strategy for academic success

Senior point guard Sarita Hatcher knows the importance of developing winning strategies for athletic and academic success. Making Falvey Memorial Library her off-court home has been a key element in her strategy for becoming a spectacular student.

Since her freshman year, Sarita has found the quiet atmosphere at Falvey so conducive to studying that she often loses track of time. She offers high praise to the library staff for providing “step-by-step help” with her research many times during her academic career.

Like many students, Sarita was surprised by the first-floor renovations when she returned in the fall. She is delighted with the “more appealing, more open” area and also appreciates the convenience of checking out a wireless laptop for in-library use, one of several new services.  While she misses the former Reserve Room as a place to study, Sarita notes that the 24-hour lounge is relatively quiet after midnight. When told that the Holy Grounds coffee shop is hoping to extend its hours, she remarked that she would love the caffeine boost provided by a nighttime Pepsi.

Sarita hails from New York, where she was a four-year honor student at Mount St. Ursula Academy in the Bronx. Hard work toward combined degrees in economics and finance makes her a faithful Falvey user.
