CQ resources provide full-text political and social commentary

CQ Researcher Plus Archive, a part of Congressional Quarterly's Electronic Library (CQEL), is now available. The addition of the archive means access to over 3600 in-depth reports from 1923 to the present through one seamless search.

CQ Press reports that the “Archive content adds an historical dimension to the CQ Researcher site, extending its coverage beyond politics and current events to the fields of history, sociology, cultural studies, and other social sciences.” The weekly online publication contains popular features including Issue Tracker, In the News, Coming Up and an in-context link to CQEL. These features make it an ideal resource for gathering background information for oral or written presentations. Recent CQ Researcher Plus Archive topics have addressed Fair Trade Labeling, Gun Violence, Shock Jocks, Students Under Stress and Corporate Social Responsibility.

CQ Global Researcheran excellent companion resource, is also new to Falvey’s collection of databases. According to CQ Press, these in depth monthly reports will offer “focused, readable, single-topic reports on vital world issues." Written by seasoned journalists with years of international experience, this resource can be searched separately or seamlessly from within CQ Researcher Archive. Recent topics addressed include the New Europe, Energy Nationalism, Afghanistan on the Brink and India Rising.

In addition, Falvey subscribes to the titles that make up the CQ Political Reference Suite, such as Congress and the Nation and the Political Handbook of the World. All CQEL products can be searched through a common, easy-to-navigate interface.

Visit the library home page and select Databases by Title for access and information.
