Happy Friday, Wildcats! The Falvey Memorial Library is happy to return Weekend Recs, a blog dedicated to filling you in on what to read, listen to, and watch over the weekend. Daniella, one of our graduate assistants from the English department, teams up with Allie Reczek, one of the Library’s undergraduate student workers, and together they scour the internet, peruse the news, and dig through book stacks to find new, relevant, and thought-provoking content that will challenge you and prepare you for the upcoming week.

This past Wednesday, Nov. 20, the fifth Democratic Debate took place to discuss major issues currently impacting the United States and what each candidate would do as president. In this debate, we heard from Pete Buttigieg, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Tulsi Gabbard, Tom Steyer, and Andrew Yang.

Criticized as “the debate that wasn’t,” the Democratic candidates “disagreed politely” with one another, focusing on “the menace of President Trump” rather than contrasting one another with different policy ideas (The New York Times). To learn more about each candidate’s policies, we recommend visiting each candidate’s campaign website to learn more.

If you missed the debate this week, no worries. Falvey has you covered.

If you have ten minutes, check out the infographics The Washington Post created following the debate. They give us statistics like how long each candidate spoke and how many times each candidate was “attacked.” Then, take a quiz they created that will show you which Democratic candidate “would agree with you the most.”

If you have forty minutes, listen to Part 1 of The New York Times‘ podcast series that was released yesterday. The series will inform us of “pivotal moments in the lives of the 2020 presidential front-runners,” and this episode is on Pete Buttigieg.

If you have an afternoon, you can watch the full debate here.
