Rainbow with a pot of gold.

We’re ready for St. Patrick’s Day at Falvey Library! Stop by the first floor lounge to see our featured displays. The first exhibit, a colorful rainbow of books, was created by Daniella Snyder, graduate assistant in the Communication and Marketing Department at Falvey and master’s student in the Department of English.

The second exhibit, “A Heart & A Hand for Our Fair Land”: The Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick & Irish American Culture, was installed Thursday, March 14. The display, curated by Laura Bang, distinctive collections librarian/archivist, and Allison Floray, former digital library intern, features selections of the Society’s historic papers and artifacts. Beaudry Allen, preservation and digital archivist, Michael Foight, director of distinctive collections and scholarly engagement, and Rebecca Oviedo, distinctive collections coordinator, assisted with the installation. Joanne Quinn, director of communication and marketing, provided graphics for the display.

To celebrate the opening of an exhibit that looks at the 248-year history of the Society of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick for the Relief of Emigrants from Ireland, Falvey Library will be hosting an event on Tuesday, March 26 in Speakers’ Corner at 5:00 p.m.
