Robin Bowles, Nursing and Life Sciences Librarian, Has Book Review Published in the Journal of the Medical Library Association
Robin Bowles, Nursing and Life Sciences Librarian, was published in the July 2018 volume of the Journal of the Medical Library Association. In her review, Bowles evaluated the book, Digital Rights Management: The Librarian’s Guide, edited by Catherine A. Lemmer and Carla P. Wale. The book, Bowles argues, is a great reference for librarians as “digital rights management (DRM) is an important and inseparable feature of electronic resources and an increasingly important facet of collection development and library services.” Encouraged by her colleagues at Falvey, Bowles has recently developed an interest in reviewing books in a professional capacity. “I have always enjoyed recommending books to friends and posting Amazon and GoodReads reviews, but my library colleagues, Janice Bially-Mattern and Darren Poley, encouraged me to try reviewing books as a professional activity,” says Bowles. “Books reviews are a fun way to read a book with purpose. I was familiar with the basics of DRM, yet I really wanted to get into the details and implications of it and I was thrilled to review the book for a publication I enjoy.”
