Alan Drew will visit Speakers’ Corner of Falvey Memorial Library today, Nov. 9, at 1pm. He’ll be reading excerpts from “Shadow Man,” his second and most recent novel. Drew’s unique experiences as an educator and unique style as a writer make this a must-see event for everyone on campus.

After growing up in Southern California, Drew and his family moved to Istanbul, Turkey in 1999, where Drew taught at a private school. His first novel, “Gardens of Water,” is based primarily on this experience. After returning to the United States, he began a teaching/writing fellowship at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, which he completed in 2004.

He’s currently an Associate Professor of English here at Villanova, and he also serves as the director of the creative writing. “Shadow Man” was published earlier this year by Random to critical acclaim. The Wall Street Journal named it a Best New Mystery and called it “a stellar achievement, a book that unspools like a dark-toned movie in the reader’s mind.”
