Emma Max, a 2017 Falvey Scholar, is now a published author. Her article, “Just in KASE: Evaluating Nursing Students’ Knowledge, Attitudes, and Self-Efficacy Towards Care for the Dying Patients,” coauthored with Meredith MacKenzie, PhD, RN, ANP-BC, CNE, assistant professor, College of Nursing, is in Journal of Hospice and Palliative Nursing, Vol. 19, No. 4, pp. 356-362.

The annual Falvey Scholars program, at which Max presented her paper, was held in the Library on April 28. University Librarian Millicent Gaskell was the emcee and award presenter. Craig Wheeland, PhD, Vice Provost for Academics, welcomed the attendees. The Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, gave the closing remarks.

Emma and her mentor, Dr. MacKenzie, presented their research at the College of Nursing’s Annual Research Symposium, “Nursing Research for Healthy Communities,” on March 28, 2017.

Emma, a 2017 College of Nursing graduate, is enrolled in a nurse residency program at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. “It’s awesome; it’s 11 people and me. I do that for about six months, and then I work there for two years, and then I see where life takes me.”

She commented that while a student at Villanova she spent a lot of time in Falvey, “especially now that they redid Old Falvey [the Dugan Polk Family Reading Room].” She also enjoyed spending time in the 24-hour lounge, “goofing off” or studying.
