National Night Out Day & National Girlfriends Day

Today is both National Night Out Day and National Girlfriends Day. Why not combine the two, get together with your girlfriend/s and have a backyard barbecue or attend one of the local events?

National Night Out was created to promote police and community relationships and to enhance neighborhood camaraderie. Neighborhoods may hold block parties (fun!), parades, cookouts or other events with visits from local police and emergency personnel, all designed to make safer neighborhoods with positive relationships with local police.

National Girlfriends Day celebrates both male-female relationships and female friendships. Its origin is uncertain, but it is increasingly celebrated. I’ll be getting together with female friends. How will you celebrate?

We had a very enjoyable girlfriends evening-four of us, pizza, beverages, salad and watermelon accompanied by fireflies, a nice breeze and moonlight.
