Today Is National Library Workers Day
As part of National Library Week, the American Library Association (ALA) celebrates National Library Workers Day, a day to recognize all library workers and their valuable contributions. Our Access Services staff, including our student employees, are perhaps the most visible public faces of Falvey. These are the people who check out books and laptops, answer questions, shelve books, and are unfailingly pleasant to library patrons.
Falvey is holding a student employee appreciation party this afternoon – look for photographs of this event later today.
In addition to librarians and Access Services staff, Falvey has many other employees who play valuable roles in the smooth functioning of the Library, beginning with the University Librarian, Millicent Gaskell; Associate University Librarian for Collections, Jeehyun Davis, and her Collections Directorate; the Finance and Administration Department staff; the Technology Development Department members; and the Communication and Marketing Department who coordinate library events, create posters and other publicity for library events, and publish Mosaic and the news blog. Falvey also houses a Digital Library and the University Archives – two very important repositories with their own staff.
