#MindfulnessMonday:

Long ago there were whispers of the boy who ate only Ramen (flavor unspecified) and contracted the first case of scurvy in one hundred and twenty years (scurvy being a disease contracted through a lack of vitamin C–famous for causing the death of many a rogue sailor).

This tip is that oranges cost, on average, thirty cents a pound and are a easy way to both 1.) not get scurvy and 2.) stave off the (much more) common cold. They’re healthy, affordable, and wonderful! (The perfect addition to any heavily ramen-based diet).

My Personal Ins-pirat(e)-ion:

I’m from North Carolina where we love the sea and we love buccaneers (a little too much, perhaps?). A whole unit of our fourth grade curriculum is based solely upon pirate-studies. I’ve taken multiple tests on pirates (with a wide and wavering array of grades about pirates).
Therefore,
I feel my elementary education has prepared me to tell you a few things about my favorite: Blackbeard. Like, his name is Edward Teach. He’s English. He’s never been documented as killing a single sailor held captive. He’s the easiest pirate to dress as for Halloween after Captain Jack Sparrow. He was pardoned by the Queen, settled in Bath, N.C., then changed his mind and went back to swashbuckling. It took twenty-five wounds (five of which were gunshots) to end his pirating career (and, well, life-career) in 1718. He is the perfect one to emulate for today’s ventures. All North Carolinian children know this.
