Quote of the Week:
“Listen to the mustn’ts, child
Listen to the don’ts
Listen to the shouldn’ts
The impossibilities, the wont’s
Listen to the never haves,
Then listen close to me-
Anything can happen, child,
Anything can be”
–Shel Silverstein
(simply because it’s my birthday tomorrow and this is my favorite quote).

#MindfulnessMonday
There is a funny looking yoga position called the “cat-cow” that’s possible to do ~rather~ inconspicuously. Sit in a chair and curve your spine forward into a rounded position (this is the cow part). Then, slowly arch your back the opposite way (into the cat position). It’s simple, but a good way to prevent back pain for those already hunched over their studies.

Save the Date:
-Monday (Today), September 5th, Labor Day
-Tuesday, September 6th, National Read a Book Day (!!!)
-Thursday, September 8th, Villanova’s Fall 2016 Career Fair 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
-Saturday, September 10th, First Home Football Game (which is against Lehigh at 6 p.m.)

Instagram-Stalk Your Friends Easier-
Last week, Instagram announced a  zoom-feature which allows users who update on IOS to check a photo’s minor nuances without fear of accidentally liking your ex’s latest vacation picture (maybe that’s happened to you recently). That said, feel free to use this feature to zoom-in on Falvey Library’s Instagram all you want since we won’t judge you for liking any of our pictures.

Sometimes we post pictures of adorably arranged books! (Photo taken by Falvey’s wonderful Kallie Stahl.)

Books for Beaming-
For a point in the year which is happy, free, confused, and lonely at the same (ah, the T-Swift reference continues), it’s nice to have the reminder to smile. Below are books to explain why it’s a good idea for both relationship building and for personal benefit:

Smile: The Astonishing Powers of a Simple Act, Ron Gutman
1,047 Reasons to Smile: Little Things that Bring Joy, Happiness, & Excitement, Elizabeth Dutton
Why Smile: The Science Behind Facial Expressions, Marianne LaFrance
The Twits, Roald Dahl, which explains:
“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

#FalveyPeek at the Week provided by Hunter Vay Houtzer, a graduate assistant on the Communications and Marketing Team at Falvey Memorial Library. She is working toward an MA in Communication at Villanova University, and also on learning how to drink iced coffee slower (savoring is an important skill). Send your thoughts/suggestions to Hunter at #falveypeek. See you next Monday for more!
