#TBT

It’s been a bit over a week since ‘Nova’s epic NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship win, but it’s hard not to still feel the sheer excitement lingering in the air. Check out this #TBT pic from our 1987 yearbook. This group of students is still “radiating spirit” after the ’85 win!

NEW MEDIA NEWS

spill simmerWhen spring comes along and we get a little extra light each day, it leaves room for reading under the trees and on the benches in front of the Library. The evening light might remind us of Ireland, of a misfit man and his dog. It could be this dog. It could be an occasion to read this book, Spill simmer falter wither.

“This captivating story follows — over the course of four seasons — a misfit man who adopts a misfit dog. It is springtime, and two outcasts — a man ignored, even shunned by his village, and the one-eyed dog he takes into his quiet, tightly shuttered life — find each other, by accident or fate, and forge an unlikely connection. As their friendship grows, their small, seaside town suddenly takes note of them, falsely perceiving menace where there is only mishap; the unlikely duo must take to the road.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY

On this day in 1866, Anne Sullivan, Helen Keller’s teacher, was born. She studied at Perkins School of the Blind  before taking on her most famous student. If you would like to check out the play for television about Sullivan and Keller, you can borrow The Miracle Worker from our stacks today.

“People seldom see the halting and painful steps by which the most insignificant success is achieved.” – Anne Sullivan
