princeton irelandNEW MEDIA NEWS

The recent Easter Rising commemoration event may have piqued your interest in Irish history. Lucky for you we have a new scholarly book on the topic. And although the publisher of The Princeton History of Modern Ireland promises “fresh perspectives on topics ranging from colonialism and nationalism to political violence, famine, emigration, and feminism,” the Irish Times review warns that it’s “not a book for the neophyte, the reader seeking an introduction to the history of modern Ireland. It addresses the informed, preferably disputatious, adult. Such a reader will find a great deal to savour in this fine collection.”

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Women’s History Month

1st Lieutenant Kristen Griest and Captain Shaye Haver are the first combat-ready female Army Rangers in United States history. They graduated the grueling Ranger school in summer 2015. If you are interested in learning more about women in the military, check out our holdings on the subject.

“I do hope that, with our performance in Ranger School, we’ve been able to inform those making decisions that we can handle things mentally and physically on the same level as men.” – Kristen Griest
