On Wednesday, March 16, 12-1:30, Falvey’s Academic Integration team will host a panel, Perils and Promise of Scholarly Networks. The growing popularity of emerging scholarly communication channels such as Researchgate.com, Academia.edu, Social Science Research Network and Mendeley led the Academic Integration team to invite interested faculty for a panel discussion. The event, a brown bag lunch, will meet in room 204. Beverages and cookies will be provided.

RS4522_FML164_LindaHauck_003_EDITLinda Hauck, business librarian, says, “We are hoping to exchange ideas about why researchers use networks, which ones are preferable, what features and attributes are beneficial or unfavorable and, perhaps, get into some of the controversial aspects of scholarly social networks. David Lacy, Library Software Development team leader, will provide a brief presentation on the origins and tools offered by academic social networking sites.” The Academic Integration team believes that bringing together scholars from different disciplines and different career stages will create a lively, informative discussion.

Faculty interested in attending should contact Linda Hauck, business librarian, at Linda.Hauck@villanova.edu (610-519-8744), for more information.
