Contemporary China : Between Mao and Market is a full-text e-book that is described by the publisher as an “overview of Chinese politics, economy, and society by a leading scholar offers a deeply informed assessment of China’s last decade—its debates and political infighting, its rising and assertive international profile, and the forceful initiatives taken by Xi Jinping,” Jinping took office as president of China in 2013 and is considered the country’s strongest leader since Mao Tse-Tung and Deng Xiaoping.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WIKIPEDIA
Not that we’re condoning its use for your latest research paper, but even we admit that Wikipedia can be pretty darn handy. Last week it celebrated its 15th year as the internet’s largest and best known encyclopedia written collaboratively by its users. The site is a wiki, which allows modification of copy and structure directly from the web browser. Content, then, is written by many people who have agreed to release their contributions for use under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, permitting free usage of the material to all.

In this fascinating though now dated infographic, you’ll see that if you ever attempted to read the entire English portion of Wikipedia, it would take you over 16 years to finish it. And these are 2012 figures. Now there are five million articles to plow through, so add about another 25% to all these factors.

6th Annual Spotlight on Leadership w/ Dr. Darryl Ford: 2/8
The Office of Student Involvement invites you to attend the 6th Annual Spotlight On Leadership themed, “Servant Leadership in the Augustinian Tradition,” with Darryl Ford, PhD. Dr. Ford will highlight his experiences being a (servant) leader within the education system for over 25 years. He has a seasoned perspective of leadership and is a proponent for being a servant first and exhibits the idea that leadership begins with being a servant to those that you lead. On this day in 1945, Franklin D. Roosevelt was inaugurated to his fourth term in office. He only lived three more months after his fourth inauguration and was the only president to serve three consecutive terms. After his stint in office the Constitution was amended (22nd) to prevent presidents from serving for longer than two consecutive terms. FDR served thirteen years as president!
