Sketched Map Showing Positions of Hospital, Rebel Entrenchment and Lookout Cliff in Chattanooga by Robert M. O’Reilly, [April, 1864?]

This week brings to your attention the initial digitization of an important personal paper collection largely consisting of the letters of the future Surgeon General of the United States Robert O’Reilly written home to his family during the American Civil War. General O’Reilly served as the U.S. representative for the revision of the Geneva Convention, and some of the forthcoming materials were collected from the event. As well, a few Story Paper issues and Daily Doodles will enhance your daily reading pleasure!
