David Lacy Promoted: Team Leader of Library Technology Development
David Lacy, a library software development specialist since September 2008, has been promoted to team leader for Library Technology Development. Other members of the team are Demian Katz, library technology development specialist; David Uspal, senior web specialist for library services and scholarly applications; Christopher Hallberg, library technology development specialist; and Kathleen O’Connor, senior librarian for systems planning and support.
The Library Technology Development team “develops major features for the Falvey Memorial Library web site.” Among these projects are VuFind, a library resource portal designed and developed here; the Digital Library system built using open source materials; and the Community Bibliography, “an open repository of the entire published output of the Villanova University community.”
University Librarian Joe Lucia announced Lacy’s promotion in June, before Lucia left Falvey for a new position. Lucia says, “All library technology positions were consolidated in one reporting line through [this] promotion … This move is based on his deep history of accomplishment, his rich skill set and his strong interpersonal ability. … I am confident Dave will thrive in this role and that library technology will flourish.”
Alice Bampton is an digital image specialist and senior writer on the Communication and Publications Team.
