A Familiar Face Is Missed: Mary Heyman Retires

Mary Heyman, a Business Processes and Administrative Services specialist in the Director’s Office, retired at the beginning of January after 23 years of service to Falvey. Heyman worked with student employees, organizing their employment and payroll. She was also instrumental in the Library’s student employee appreciation program.

University Librarian and Library Director Joe Lucia says, “Throughout my tenure at Villanova, Mary has been a warm and welcoming presence in the Director’s Office. She was often the first person to interact with the many students seeking employment in the Library, and in that role she was unfailingly gracious and helpful. She was also one of the most dependable people around—always on time, always reliably present in the office when we needed her. We will all miss her quiet, light-hearted personality.”

Heyman was a member of the Falvey University Staff Council, the Scholarly Outreach team and the Communication and Publications team. She produced Falvey Update, the weekly online publication for library staff. According to Judith Olsen, Communication and Publications team leader, “Mary was a core member of our team for many years and greatly enhanced the circulation of the library print newsletter, News from Falvey. She will be missed!”
