Ebooks for Human Resource Development

Since so many of the Human Resource Development (HRD) students in both the campus based program and the distance program don’t have easy access to Falvey Library’s print collection, we’ve begun buying ebooks about compensation, benefits, organizational development, workforce planning, and performance management.

All of the ebooks in our collection are discoverable via our library catalog. To find online books perform a subject or keyword search for your topic.  Then refine your search by using the online and book facets in the column on the right of the screen.

Most, but not all, of the ebooks for HRD are hosted on a platform called ebrary.  Ebrary books are viewed online via your browser and portions of them can be copied, printed, emailed, annotated or added to folders once you create a personal account.  A nice video tutorial describes and demonstrates  these features in greater detail.    Most of the ebrary books to which  we have purchased perpetual access allow only one simultaneous user.  In other words two researches can’t be reading the same book as they typically might an electronic journal article.  Nor can a reader “check out” an ebrary book for a specified period of time to ensure its availability.   Ebrary ebook users have to read in the moment!  Ebrary books become available to other users five minutes after navigating away from the platform.

The following list of HRD ebooks have been recently added to our collection.  Give them a try and let us know what you think.  Should we keep on investing in these ebooks or is this incarnation of the ebook not yet worth our library dollars?  And remember print books from the Falvey collection can be delivered to your doorstep!
