EIGHT-THIRTY-GRAPHIC2

Here’s your daily dose of library-oriented speed-reads to start your day!

7-Reyna-Grande

SAVE THE DATE…

On Thursday, Sept. 10, Reyna Grande, the author of The Distance Between Us: A Memoir  will visit Villanova University.  Her book was chosen as the new OneBook Villanova, the campus wide reading program that is now in its eleventh year. First year students were mailed the book during the summer and all others can purchase the book from the Center for Multicultural Affairs or the Office of Student Involvement or by ordering online by cash, check or budget transfer.

Ms. Grande will appear in the library’s Speakers Corner between 4:40 and 5:30 on September 10 to provide readers with an opportunity to meet the author and get their book signed.

HUGO AWARD WINNERS

CNEv3MuW8AA0bb6With a plot and climax as twisty as sci-fi itself, the Hugo Awards – the annual science fiction and fantasy awards – were announced this past weekend. This year’s nominations and voting process were roiled by a scandal called “PuppyGate,” fueled by groups that suspected the process to be ruled more by political correctness than good writing. The Puppy-backed nominees were generally shut out of awards, however, and according to novelist John Scalzi,  “good work was rewarded and bad action was penalized.”

You be the judge! Find the list of award-winning works here and if anything strikes your fancy, check our shelves via our catalog or use E-Z Borrow for quick delivery from other libraries. We also have a large collection of vintage paperback sci-fi if you prefer the classics!

GRAD STUDENTS & COMMUTERS!  LESSEN YOUR SCHLEP!

Have you ever looked longingly at the lockers on the fourth floor and wondered who could use them? Good news, graduate and commuters! Lockers are available to Graduate and Commuting students with a $5 fee per semester use. Requests can be made at the Circulation desk.
