The plus edition includes historical company reports going back to 1997! Falvey Memorial Library still has the microfiche that include company, industry and news going back to 1980.
Somtimes the best research is never published, it resides within people and institutions. The Encyclopedia of Business Information Sources is an aid to connecting to industry insiders. It provides access to trade and professional associations as well as manuals, directories, encyclopedias, article databases and statistical databases.
Bizminer Academic offers “Sole Proprieter and Start-Up” and “Industry Financial Reports” with average income statements, cash flows, balance sheet and financial ratios for benchmarking and projections for smaller private enterprises. It is searchable by keyword, SIC code or industry cluster. It’s a nice online compliment to D&B’s Industry Norms and Key Business Ratios [REF HF 5681.R25 I561], Troy’s Almanac of Business and Industrial Financial Ratios [REF HF 5681.R25.T68], and RMA’s Annual Statement Studies [REF HF5681.B2].
